AFP National Headquarters Fitout
|Client||Australian Federal Police|
|Timeframe||2008 - 2011|
The National Headquarters of the Australian Federal Police (AFP) is located at the Edmund Barton Building. The AFP aimed to provide employees with a modern, efficient work environment, which would meet their needs for the next 15 years.
The building comprises a ground level, plus five above ground levels of office accommodation, and one basement level with mixed office accommodation and other use areas. The average floor plate size is 7,741m², with interconnecting stairs and lifts between levels at six main points. The building perimeter was hardened to meet ASIO T4 requirements for Secure Areas, with several areas of the building fitout and infrastructure constructed to meet Top Secret requirements. In addition to the office accommodation, the fitout included a number of special AFP operational and IT areas, a media centre, and a café. The base building was fully refurbished by the building owner before being handed over for the AFP to independently undertake its fitout works.
