Edmund Barton Building, AFP National Headquarters
|Client||Australian Federal Police (AFP)|
|Timeframe||2008 - 2011|
The National Headquarters of the Australian Federal Police (AFP) is located at the Edmund Barton Building (EBB). The AFP aimed to provide employees with a modern, efficient work environment, which would meet their needs for the next 15 years.
EBB comprises a ground level, plus five above ground levels of office accommodation, and one basement level with mixed office accommodation and other use areas. The average floor plate size is 7,741m² with interconnecting stairs and lifts between levels at six main points. The building perimeter was hardened to meet ASIO T4 requirements for Secure Areas, with several areas of the building fitout and infrastructure constructed to meet requirements for Top Secret. In addition to the office accommodation, the fitout included a number of special AFP operational areas, IT and back-up systems, a media centre and a café. The base building was fully refurbished by the building owner before being handed over for AFP to independently undertake its fitout works.
