Australian Sports Commission Aquatic Centre Capital Works
|Client||Australian Sports Commission|
|Role||Procurement and Strategic Planning|
The Australian Sports Commission (ASC) is a statutory authority (Commonwealth Authorities and Companies Act) within the Department of Health and is the primary national sports and advisory agency. Part of the ASC’s responsibility is the management of the Australian Institute of Sport facilities.
The Aquatic Centre is open to the public, and receives a high volume of visitors, including swimmers from the AIS Swim School. The ASC identified several infrastructure upgrades required for the Aquatic Centre, including re-tiling around the 25m and 50m pools, and the refurbishment of structural steel columns within the centre. Given the profile of the facility, and high utilisation rates, the key priorities for the ASC were achieving a high-quality result, and programming that was sensitive to the operations of the centre.
